If it wasn't Mencken I'd assume it was a parody done davka to point out the idiocy of the chareidi position. But in this case the idiocy is all Mencky's!
As far as I can tell, neither Vos Iz Neais (“the Voice of the Orthodox Jewish Community”) nor Yeshiva World News (chareidi, I believe), covered the story of the murder of 20-year old Shelly Dadon (H”yd) in Migdal Ha’emek yesterday, in a suspected terrorist attack. I wrote to both web sites questioning this omission. As of this hour, Vos Iz Neais still has not reported the story…YWN reported it without mentioning “the female” victim’s name, getting her age wrong, and not revealing the anguished response of the young women’s parents (i.e. extremely indifferent reporting).
So, my question is a simple one. Are these two chareidi news outlets disinterested in the horrific murder of this young woman because she’s chiloni? Would anyone be shocked by the secular community’s horror at the indifference being demonstrated here by chareidi news outlets. Could this demonstration of callous indifference be considered “reprehensible incitement” by the secular community? It is altogether time to stop throwing stones at the secular media when the chareidi media behaves no better.
